Bad Weather: 30-30 Rule
30-30 Rule

The OCPS delayed dismissal weather procedures require that the nationally recognized “30/30 Rule” be enacted by the school if thunder is heard within 30 seconds of a lightning strike. This means students will not be dismissed until 30 minutes has passed from the last sound of thunder. Buses won't be loaded.  Car riders, bikers and walkers will not be released. However, parents/guardians with a valid ID who are on the student's Emergency Data Card will be allowed to sign their student(s) out at the front office.

Bus riders will be transported home when conditions are  safe for dismissal. Parents/guardians of bus riders may pick up their student(s) with a valid picture ID.

A Connect Orange automated telephone message will be used to notify parents/guardians about delayed dismissals as sometimes the rest of the day's bus schedule is impacted after a delay.
